Success Story at Arbors at Woodsfield

Elderly Social Media

James “Jim” Pulley

Length of Stay: 20 days

Discharge Destination: Home

Before coming to the Arbors at Woodsfield, Jim was living independently at home with his girlfriend, Linda. He went to the hospital for a procedure but unfortunately had complications and was in the hospital for 43 days. Upon admission to the Arbors at Woodsfield, Jim was in significant amounts of pain and was extremely debilitated. He was dependent for transfers, required Max Assistance for bed mobility, and required Max assistance for all grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting. Jim had 1/5 strength in his LEs.  Jim made significant strides in his progress every day in therapy. He worked with Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy for 19 days. Upon discharge to his home, Jim was able to perform bed mobility with CGA, transfers with CGA/Min assistance, AD Ls with CGA/Min assistance, and his strength in his LEs increased to 4-/5. Perhaps most amazingly, on discharge, he was able to walk 12 feet with a WW and CGA, ascend and descend 3 steps with Min Assistance, and perform car transfers with CGA/Min Assistance. Jim was always happy to work with therapy and would try anything asked of him. His amazing motivation, sense of humor, and fantastic support system absolutely propelled his progress to levels no one could have anticipated in such a short time.
